Data Optimisation for Biodiversity Net Gain

Take control of your BNG operations

EcoSpatial’s Data Optimisation for Biodiversity Net Gain Service supports the implementation of the new Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) legislation through accurate data management and governance. Our Data Optimisation service allows us to support your BNG data collection, storage, and visualisation through the project life cycle.

We can implement on your existing ESRI ArcGIS system or on our own ArcGIS Online depending on your needs. EcoSpatial is a Bronze member of the ESRI Partner Network, with technical expertise in implementing enterprise solutions for both general and BNG specific projects.

Planning

EcoSpatial consults with you to fully understand your project needs. Our solution design process allows us to build a project scope that encompasses needs based on data inputs, desired outputs, and software functionality.

Data Collection

Our team can produce a bespoke habitat condition survey system that allows ecologists to perform or update BNG condition assessments within the platform, reducing on-site time for ecologists and processing time for technicians. This can be developed using ArcGIS Field Maps, or Sweet for ArcGIS.

Data Processing, Analytics, and Visualisation

We can process your pre-existing site or network wide ecological survey data to conform to the Biodiversity Metric 4.0 and provide baseline calculations based on those surveys. Analytics on new and pre-existing survey data can provide insights to support decision making around vegetation clearance and landscape design. Interactive visualisations can include dashboard functionality and user-friendly experience including maps, lists, filters, pop-up details, and attachments. This allows users to explore and integrate their data, using these tools to perform user-specific analytics and potentially integrate across departments.

 Training

Training post-implementation will be discussed and developed with you. We can provide the following:

·       BNG data management introductory sessions (virtual or in person)

·       In person training workshops

·       Virtual training sessions

·       Video user guides

·       Written technical user guides.

Data Standards and Governance/Quality Assurance

Data collected by non-GIS specialists can sometimes affect data integrity and non-conformity to data standards. EcoSpatial has developed data standards and requirements specifically for BNG projects; this ensures that data is accurate, geographically relevant, and validated before being submitted to planning authorities or government agencies. Furthermore, EcoSpatial will always adhere to any quality assurance standards as set out by our clients.
